My first bike residential

I was asked to go on a cycling residential with Cycleworks and a group of young people from the local community. It was super exciting to be a part of this experience especially because I've never done anything like this before. On Sunday 8th of April we started our journey from Cycleworks to Canterbury in Kent. In total we cycled for 16 miles from Burgess Park to Canterbury (we did take the train from Elephant and Castle to somewhere far far away, but I don't remember the name, and from there we cycled to Canterbury) It was an amazing experience for myself and the young people. We got to cycle on main roads as well as doing some off road cycling. It was lovely to see a change of scenery, that everyone could enjoy. We passed river banks, forests and castles.

We stayed in a youth hostel for the night, which was a different experience in itself. It was so much fun seeing the young people getting together in a different environment. Once we were settled in, we had a lovely dinner, all freshly made by Stewart's wife, she made one of the best raspberry cheesecakes I've ever had!

The following morning we left the youth hostel and cycled to Whitstable Beach, where we had our lunch. It was roughly around 9 miles. It was cold but we enjoyed the ocean view.

I would recommend this experience to anyone that wants to cycle or be more active, the great thing about this experience is that anyone can do it.

Overall the experience opened my eyes and made me realise how much endurance and perseverance you need to do such an activity. It has also made me into a cycle enthusiast!  #TeamCycle
